Harry looks a lot like his ancestor whose portrait hangs in the seat of the Earls of Cragmoor. Something about him speaks to Maggie, who happily agrees to write to him as she continues on her tour of old English castles. Before long Harry invites her and her traveling companion to spend Easter weekend at his home. While there Maggie experiences haunting dreams of an ancient love affair and its tragic aftermath.
Harry's sister, Bea, dos not welcome Maggie and, in fact, is actively antagonistic to her. She does her best to separate them, but the growing love between Maggie and Harry is strong and Bea's machinations fail. Over time her obsession strengthens, until she loses her grip on reality and captures Maggie, intending to kill her. But is it Bea who is acting thus, or has one of Harry's ghostly ancestors somehow captured Bea's body and is using it to repeat a ghastly chapter in the family's history?
