~Annabelle follows strange lights to an abandoned farmhouse. Is what she finds her past? Or her future?~
Sleepless, Annabelle spies a strange amber light gleaming in the darkness, shining from a supposedly abandoned farmhouse. There she discovers a portal to another time and a wounded soldier named Seth. She finds herself falling hopelessly in love with this handsome and innocent stranger, but Seth is destined to fight in one of the final battles of the Civil War. The doorway to the past is closing for good. Is there any hope for two time-crossed lovers?
"Miss Annabelle's Yankee is a delightful story of true love and of what one is willing to do to keep it. Mr. Shelsky does what a good fiction writer should do - takes you into another world." MyShelf.com
"Hezekiah?" a deep male voice called. "Hezekiah, is that you? Who's there?"
Annabelle gathered her courage. She leaned around the corner, looked into the room. A bare-chested man sat on a rumpled pile of bedding on the floor, facing her, his back leaning against a cornflower-papered wall. He wore tight dark trousers tucked into worn high boots. Blackest hair against whitest skin, he stared up at her with blue eyes that were like twin gleaming sapphires. Annabelle focused not on his handsome features, but on the rifle in his hand. It looked outdated but lethal, and it pointed straight at her. What's more, the gun looked huge.
"You, ma'am, are not Hezekiah," he said in a low and menacing growl.
